Summary: This was our first family vacation to Vermont, and we chose River St House duplex in Montpelier as our base for a week of hiking and scenic drives. It worked out great! The property was clean and spacious and had everything we needed. It is about 1 mile from the small downtown area where we ate breakfast and dinner, and about 1/2 mile to an organic food co-op where we found pre-made sandwiches and deli foods to take on our hikes for lunch. Our host was very responsive to our questions about the property so we knew what to expect when we arrived. In addition, she quickly provided access information on my cell phone when I had trouble receiving it from the Vrbo site. A small electric heater in the living room was enough to keep the house temperature comfortable in the early fall weather, and small fans in the bedrooms provided some air movement and white noise to mitigate occasional sounds from traffic and the neighbors. We slept well and thoroughly enjoyed our first vacation to Vermont!
