The Mid-Island area is a term that loosely describes the area between downtown, Surfside, and the airport. This area is best known for its conveniences, including schools, the largest grocery store on the island, health clubs, and restaurants. The new Nantucket Cottage Hospital is also located here. Mid-Island is accessible to most areas on the island by car, bike, or the Wave (our public transit bus). Whether it’s fun family activities you’re looking for, or a great social scene, Mid-Island is the ideal spot. In the heart of Mid-Island, along Surfside Road as you leave Town, lie the Nantucket Public Schools.
