Neglected in the 18th century, the castle was sold to Théophile Gide, a resident of Lussan and great-grandfather of the writer André Gide. Needing money, the Gide family sold it to the municipality in 1920. The building became a gendarmerie around 1960 before being relocated to Audabiac in 1980. The municipality provides security, but the buildings are poorly maintained.
